My Ten Friends Nail Polish

My Ten Friends – Earthlings In Love

Boo to the flu! It finally caught up with me, even after all my hand washing and green tea drinking. Fortunately, I had some photos saved on my computer that I took last week, so I can share those with you all while I continue taking Nyquil and feeling sorry for myself under the covers.

So today I have a very bright polish to share with you – ‘Earthlings in Love’ by My Ten Friends Nail Polish. Bright shimmery pink and packed with silver glitter, with a punch of electric fuschia matte glitter to boot:

It’s loud and girly, but the vibrancy of the neon pink glitter mixed in gives it an edge, an in-your-face kind of girliness.

I wore this on a trip to the zoo and it lasted me the entire day with no chipping or wear, even as I kept accidentally bumping into a billion tourists while getting distracted by all the awesome animals like the maned wolves and the fennec fox and the naked mole rats. So many awesome animals! I love the zoo.

Sorry, sidetracked for a second. Back to nail polish:

I always love to see where the inspiration came from for polishes, so I found it really cool when My Ten Friends shared that their inspiration for Earthlings in Love came from a photo of the universe, specifically the pink cluster in the center:

After seeing that, I can see so many elements of that photo in the polish! Very cool.

Most of you probably know by now My Ten Friends is one of my favorite indie polish brands. Quality polishes, awesome color combinations, and excellent customer service – it’s an irresistible triple whammy!

You can find their polishes at their etsy shop, but they just went on vacation for a short while, so check out their facebook for updates. They’ll be back up soon!

‘First Contact’ by My Ten Friends Nail Polish

My nails look so glam rock. I am in awe.

KACHOW! (that’s my glam rock music sound.)

Very few of you would know this, but I am a crazy David Bowie fan. I love his voice, and his wackadoodle hairdos, and his awesome shiny outfits. And as soon as I put on this polish I thought to myself, ‘ooooh my goodness. David Bowie would SO wear this. Circa his Ziggy Stardust phase, I mean.’ I’m telling you guys, I’m a nerd for Bowie.

Anyways, that’s not totally related to this polish, except to say that when you wear this, you will feel like a glam rock superstar. Your nails will not stop distracting you and everyone around you. My friend literally grabbed my hand and exclaimed, ‘OH. MY. GOD.’ when she saw this polish on me.

Three coats of First Contact, with one topcoat of KBShimmer ‘Clearly On Top.’

The camera can’t capture the awesomeness that happens when the light hits this polish. Rainbows practically explode off your hands in a laser beam fashion. Driving with my hands wrapped around the steering wheel was like having a disco ball in the car with me. My hands became a little laser show everywhere I went.

In addition to being mad glittertastical-bo-bastical, this polish has a gorgeous rose gold hue, almost a very pale copper. I had to use three coats to build it to opacity, but I could also see this beautifully transforming a dark polish into something new and different.

‘First Contact’ is from My Ten Friends Nail Polish upcoming ‘Kiss of the Cosmos’ Valentine’s collection being released tomorrow at their Etsy shop. As I said in my previous post, I’ve been hugely impressed with their customer service. They’ve responded to all my questions promptly, and my nail polishes were sent to me very quickly.

Additionally, they took the initiative to contact me after I received my polishes and let me know that they had discovered some possible curling issues with the large black glitter in ‘First Contact’ and were reformulating it slightly to resolve the issue. They apologized and told me if I had any problems with my polish that they would send me a new one right away. This really impressed me – they went out of their way to be honest and inform me of a possible issue when they could have just as easily said nothing and hoped for the best.

My Ten Friends Nail Polish can be found at their Etsy Shop, and they also have a Facebook you can follow for updates.

‘Lunar Love Song’ by My Ten Friends Nail Polish

Today I have a really beautiful polish to show you. This is the first polish I have ever received before a collection has been released yet, and it’s very exciting for me as a blogger! It’s called ‘Lunar Love Song,’ and it’s by indie maker My Ten Friends Nail Polish. Check out the gorgeousness that is this lacquer:

Sea foam green with a hint of sheen; pink, gold and red glitters floating throughout. Holy cow, this polish is stunning. It hits the light in a soft, dewy manner – in fact, as I’m describing this, I can see how Lunar Love Song is such an apt name. The subtle shimmer creates a hazy glow almost like moonlight hitting your nails, which mixed with the ‘romantic’ red and pink glitters creates quite the lunar love song, indeed.

Two coats Lunar Love Song, topped with KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

Application for this polish was much better than I anticipated. When I saw the large red glitter in the bottle, I figured I would have to do a lot of dabbing and placement to get them on, but instead it went on very smoothly. The first coat was very sheer, but by the second coat it was nearly opaque. What you see in the pictures here is only two coats.

I’d been eyeing My Ten Friends Nail Polish for a while, and I’m so glad to have finally been able to try their products. Communication with My Ten Friends was excellent – they have always responded to my messages very quickly, and went above and beyond in trying to make sure all my questions were answered. Shipping was also extremely prompt, and the polishes were packed snugly and arrived in perfect condition.

Lunar Love Song is part of their ‘Kiss of the Cosmos’ collection coming out for Valentine’s Day and will be released on Friday (February 1) at their Etsy shop. My Ten Friends was incredibly nice enough to take a chance on me as a new blogger, and I hope you will all take a chance on them as well! I truly do think you won’t regret it. After trying their polishes in person, I’ve put several more of theirs on my own wishlist!
